President of Republic Supervises Launch of Financing for Youth Employment Projects
On 30 May, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, supervised the launch of financing for hundreds of development projects aimed at strengthening the potential of young people in terms of employment.
During the ceremony organized for this purpose, the President of the Republic presented symbolic funding checks to some young project leaders, thus marking the start of the granting of funding for a new wave of projects intended for young people in the framework of the “My Project, My Future”, “Youth Employability”, and “Mihneti” programs.
The fourth edition of the “My Project, My Future” program, organized under the slogan: “Let us trust our youth, for a prosperous future”, will provide funding to 2000 project leaders, with a budget of MRU 2.3 billion. Added to this are the dozens of financing that will be launched as part of the “Youth Employability” and “Mihneti” projects.
Furthermore, the President of the Republic kicked off the call for applications for the Halles d’entreprises and the fifth edition of the ‘My Project, My Future’ program, which will open up new perspectives for employment and strengthen the development role of youth in various economic sectors.
These development programs intended for young people, implemented by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training, are in harmony with the government’s general policy aimed at creating employment opportunities, promoting economic potential in the various regions of the country, and offering young people funding and support for project leaders and income-generating activities as well as for small and medium-sized businesses.
They also include training young people and their support in terms of leadership, paying particular attention to vulnerable groups, and directing development projects specific to their education level and work environment.
The ceremony was also marked by the screening of a film taking stock of the actions of the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training over the last five years, presenting the number of young beneficiaries of employment programs, the budgets allocated to their projects, the training provided by the department and their fields, as well as their role in supervising young people and their access to the job market.
