On 22 May, in Cairo, Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, signed a soft loan agreement with Mr. Walid Shamlan Al Bahar, the Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
The loan, amounting to 10 million Kuwaiti Dinars (32 million USD), helps to complete the financing of the project to supply drinking water to the city of Kiffa from the Senegal River. The objective of the project is to provide a wide range of water and sanitation services to villages and towns located along the main pipeline.
This will help improve the health of the population and the quality of the water supply.
The project is expected to be completed in 2026 and its full financing has been provided by several Arab financing institutions.
