President of Nouakchott Region Participates in Tokyo City Leaders’ Summit

Nouakchott Regional Council President Fatimatou Abdel Malick participated on Thursday in the kick-off of the Tokyo City Leaders’ Summit.
In her speech on the occasion, Madam President stressed the need for concerted efforts of cities and exchange of experiences in order to meet the challenges, highlighting the most important challenges of the capital Nouakchott and the plans and strategies that have been developed in order to solve the problems raised and reach the desired advancement.
The President had a working meeting with the Governor of Tokyo, Ms. Kwik Jericho, on ways to enhance cooperation between the two cities.
She also met with the Director of the Africa Sector at the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Mr. Naki Yanaz, on ways to support the Nouakchott region in the field of health, vocational training and urban transport.
The President also held several meetings on the sidelines of the conference with several leaders of international cities.
The three-day summit, organized by the City of Tokyo, which brings together city leaders from different continents, will discuss several issues within the Sustainable Development Goals.
