President of Republic, AU Chairman, Meets With Delegation of African Financial Institutions, Banks
On 13 May, in Nouakchott, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, the President of the Republic and Chairman of the African Union, met with a delegation of heads of African financial institutions and banks.
The meeting focused on the cooperative relations between our country and these institutions and the measures taken by His Excellency, the President of the Republic, to raise the level of these institutions so that they can fully play their role.
In a statement at the end of the meeting, the spokesperson for African institutions and banks stressed that the purpose of the visit was to congratulate His Excellency the President of the Republic for his role as President of the African Union, expressing the support of African institutions and banks for its efforts in favor of the development of Mauritania and Africa in general.
The spokesperson for African institutions and banks announced their agreement to mobilize an amount of two billion dollars to support professional training, particularly that of women and young people, thanking the President of the Republic for his support for African financial institutions and particularly to this alliance whose launch he supported on the sidelines of the last African Summit in Addis Ababa.
He also assured the President of the Republic of their support for the efforts undertaken by the African Union to create lasting financial independence.
He indicated that they discussed the issue of climate, which is a priority for the African continent, stressing that His Excellency insisted on the need to make the continent’s voice heard during the summits on the climate, including the next COP.
The spokesperson for African institutions and banks also declared having informed the President of the Republic and Chairman of the African Union, that African financial institutions are collaborating with the pan-African organization to activate the intra-state free trade agreement to achieve the objectives of Agenda 2063.
