Chief of Armed Forces General Staff Holds Working Session With Malian Counterpart

On 9 May, in Nouakchott, Lieutenant General Mokhtar Bellah Chaabane, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, held a working session with Lieutenant General Oumar Diarra, the Chief of Staff of the Malian Army, who is visiting Mauritania at the head of a large military delegation.

During the working session, the two parties discussed and diagnosed the security issues and concerns of both parties in a climate of transparency and openness.

For them, it is a question of finding lasting solutions, allowing the establishment of a mechanism for securing common borders and avoiding, in the futureincidents similar to those that have occurred recently.

They expressed the importance of agreeing on concrete security measures to ensure the return of calm and tranquility in the border areas and protect vital interests, which are based on a long history of fraternal relations between the two countries and the two people.
