Minister of Economy Holds Meeting with European Mission of Green Hydrogen Manufacturers

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mr. Abdessalam Mohamed Saleh, held on Thursday at the Ministry’s headquarters in Nouakchott a meeting with a European delegation of green hydrogen manufacturers, headed by His Excellency Mr. Quilem Jones, Ambassador of the European Union to Mauritania.

During the meeting, they discussed the needs in the context of the implementation of the Green Hydrogen Code and the Action Plan of the Roadmap for the Development of Low-Carbon Hydrogen, as well as ways to strengthen the presence of European actors in order to accelerate Mauritania’s energy transition.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development explained that this mission comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation between our country and the European Union.

He added that the meeting was an opportunity to showcase Mauritania’s potential of green hydrogen, with the aim of making it a development pole.

For his part, the Ambassador and Head of the Delegation of the European Union said that the aim of this visit is to develop the relationship between Mauritania and the European Union.

The visit of the delegation, which includes about 40 European actors in the field of green hydrogen, aims to explore the capabilities and prospects of the sector and investment opportunities in Mauritania.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of Finance and Economic Cooperation, the Director of the Agency for the Promotion of Forms and the Director of the Private Sector at the Ministry of Economy.
