President of the Republic Chairperson of the African Union Receives the Chairperson of the African Union Commission

His Excellency the President of the Republic, the rotating Chairman of the African Union, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh EL Ghazouani, received, Tuesday evening at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mr. Moussa Faki.

The Chairman of the African Union Commission, after the meeting, said in a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency that the meeting with His Excellency the President of the Republic, the rotating Chairman of the African Union, was an opportunity to review the basic files related to the situation in the continent, such as the implementation of Agenda 2063, and the African partnership with the rest of the global blocs.

He added that the meeting was important and rich, noting that he received from His Excellency the President of the Republic, the rotating President of the African Union, the necessary guidance and directives in this field.

He said that there are many meetings and conferences that will be held inside and outside the continent, including a summit on agriculture that will be held soon given that food security is one of the most important challenges facing the continent, and the annual coordination summit to be held on July 21 of this year in Accra, in addition to continuous contacts and consultations to defend the interests of the continent.

He pointed out that there are challenges facing the African continent at the political, security and institutional levels, as there are six countries that have been suspended for constitutional reasons, and work is underway to regularize their status.

He said that there is a full convergence of views with the rotating President of the African Union on all these topics, stressing that the African Union Committee is ready to accompany His Excellency the President to implement the Union’s agenda.
