Mauritania Elected as President of Tenth African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development

Mauritania was unanimously elected on Tuesday in Addis Ababa as president of the tenth African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, representing North Africa.
Namibia was elected as First Vice-President, Chad as Second Vice-President, Uganda as Third Vice-President and Niger as Rapporteur.
The Forum was chaired on behalf of the Minister of Economic Affairs and Sustainable Development, Mr. Niang Mamoudou, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The Forum is one of the important bodies of the Organization of the African Union that is concerned with the development of the continent and exploring aspects of cooperation among its member countries.
The minister thanked the Member States for the confidence they have placed in Mauritania, stressing that the election of our country to this post reflects the high confidence enjoyed by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh EL Ghazouani, rotating President of the African Union.
He said that chairing this important forum will give our country the opportunity to contribute to achieving the continent’s goals in Agenda 2063 and the participation of the rest of the continent’s countries that have important experience in working for sustainable development.
