On 17 April, in Nouakchott, the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Massoud, received Mr. Salim Khalbous, the Director General of the Francophone University Association (AUF).
The meeting focused on the different areas of cooperation between Mauritania and the AUF, the means to promote and develop it, and issues of common interest.
At the end of the meeting, the Francophone host made a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI) in which he expressed his pleasure in meeting the Prime Minister, stressing that the meeting was an opportunity to discuss ways to improve higher education and scientific research in Mauritania.
He indicated that the AUF brings together more than a thousand international universities, whose mission is to monitor reforms in the scientific research and higher education areas.
He added that the meeting focused on the important programs carried out by the Ministry of Higher Education in Mauritania to improve the experiences of higher university degree holders and promote scientific research and the extent of its application on the economic level.
He added that he also spoke with the minister about Mauritania’s priorities in areas that require the development of scientific research and its promotion of the national economy, emphasizing the AUF’s availability to work to support the Mauritanian government in this area.
