Prime Minister Chairs a Meeting of the Ministerial Committee in Charge of Following up on Private Mining

The Prime Minister Mohamed Bilal Messoud chaired, on Monday at the Prime Ministry, a meeting of the ministerial committee in charge of following up on private mining in the country.

The meeting was devoted to reviewing the progress of the implementation of the multisectoral action plan and the decisions adopted in previous meetings aimed at framing community mining and dealing with environmental risks.

After reviewing the stages achieved within the action plan and discussing the various challenges facing the development of this activity, the Prime Minister gave instructions to the concerned sectors intervening in accordance with the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh EL Ghazouani, on the need to supervise the private mining sector well by preparing appropriate mechanisms to practice this activity within a framework of protection for our environment and to ensure the safety of citizens and livestock.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister committed the intervening ministerial sectors to double the pace of implementation of the remainder of the action plan and to deal seriously and professionally with the new aspects of the risks posed by private mining in the country.
