President of Republic Receives Credentials of UK Ambassador

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received Thursday morning, the credentials of His Excellency Mr. Colin Wells, as the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

After the presentation of credentials, the President of the republic held a meeting with the British diplomat in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

After the meeting, the British ambassador made the following statement to the Mauritanian News Agency:

‘’ I have just presented my credentials to His Excellency the President of the Republic as the Ambassador of the British throne to Mauritania.

The meeting with His Excellency the President of the Republic enabled me to discuss cooperation in the fields of Education and economy, as well as prospects for strengthening our bilateral relations and diversifying cooperation between our two countries.

We also discussed the UN Climate change summit, scheduled for this year in the United Kingdom. We hope to benefit from the attention and support of the President of the Republic to combat climate change’’.

The credentials presentation ceremony was attended by the following personalities:

-Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad
– Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Lamine, Director of the President’s Cabinet
– Mohamed Lamine Ould Abey Ould Cheikh El Hadrami, Officer in Charge of Special Duties at the Presidency of the Republic
– El Hanchi Ould El Kettab, Director General of bilateral cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad
– Mr. Mohamed Lemine Chemra, Ambassador, Director of American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
