President of Republic Inaugurates Taazour Interchange in Riyadh

On 15 March, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, oversaw the inauguration of the Taazour Interchange, located in the Moughataa of Riyadh, Southern Nouakchott.

This interchange, which comes within the framework of the implementation of the “My Expanded Priorities” program of the President of the Republic, will contribute to enhancing the flow of traffic in this city, which is characterized by urban expansion and a noticeable increase in the number of vehicles.

After cutting the symbolic ribbon and unveiling the commemorative plaque, the President of the Republic listened to explanations of the technical data relating to the interchange, standards, and methods followed to build it to contribute to improving the fluidity of road traffic in Nouakchott.

In a speech on the occasion, Mr. Mohamed Ali Ould Sidi Mohamed, the Minister of Equipment and Transport, affirmed that the city of Nouakchott is experiencing increasing demographic growth, accompanied by regular horizontal urban expansion and stifling traffic, particularly at major road junctions and on major roads, which, he said, requires the establishment of modern road infrastructure adapted to resolve this problem.

He added that the government, to deal with this situation, adopted the “Nouakchott Traffic Project for 2026”, which constitutes an integrated vision for the development of urban transport in the capital for an investment cost estimated at MRO 48 billion, noting that the project will provide a high-quality bus transport system, on reserved routes with a length of 51 km, in all districts of Nouakchott.

Mr. Ould Sidi Mohamed stressed that the project provides for rehabilitating main intersections with intelligent traffic management and creating pedestrian and cycle paths to ensure better circulation in a dense urban environment.
