President of Republic Receives Telephone Call From US Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs

On 14 March, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received a telephone call from Mr. Antony Blinken, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the United States of America.

The Secretary of State, first of all, congratulated His Excellency, the President of the Republic, on his accession to the rotating presidency of the African Union, expressing, at the same time, the availability of his country to support the priorities of the continent within the framework of the Plan for the second decade of the implementation of Agenda 2063. 

His Excellency, the President of the Republic, thanked the Secretary of State for this call, emphasizing his desire to strengthen the US-Africa partnership. 

He welcomed the Secretary of State’s willingness to support the continent’s priorities, noting that these are numerous and multidimensional priorities, foremost among which are security, stability, education, promoting youth, empowering women, consolidating democracy, and accelerating economic integration to achieve overall sustainable development. 

During the call, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani reiterated his firm position on the Palestinian question in light of what is happening in the Gaza Strip, calling again for a ceasefire, the entry of aid, and to work toward a lasting solution. 

In this context, the Secretary of State indicated his country’s concern, emphasizing its desire to continue efforts to find a definitive solution. 

Finally, the President of the Republic and the US Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs affirmed their determination to develop bilateral relations and strengthen the US-Africa partnership.
