President of Republic Welcomes UN Resoultion Calling for Cessation of Hostilities In Sudan

The President of the Republic and the Chairman of the African Union, Mr. Mohamed Ould Sheikh Al-Ghazouani, welcomed the resolution issued yesterday by the United Nations Security Council by a majority of its members, which included a call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Sudan before  the holy month of Ramadan.

 

In a statement issued this evening, Saturday, the President of the Republic urged the brothers in brotherly Sudan to adhere to this decision, which saves precious Sudanese blood, facilitates the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid, and paves the way for a permanent and comprehensive cessation of fighting and the return of security and stability to the Republic of Sudan.

This is the text of the statement:

“I welcome the resolution issued yesterday by the UN Security Council by a majority of its members, which includes a call for an immediate cessation of hostilities in Sudan before the holy month of Ramadan.

I urge the brothers in brotherly Sudan to adhere to this decision that saves precious Sudanese blood, facilitates the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid, and paves the way for a permanent and comprehensive cessation of fighting and the return of security and stability to the Republic of Sudan.
