President of Republic Arrives in Algiers

On 1 March, His Excellency Mr. Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, arrived in Algiers to participate in the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).

His Excellency was welcomed at the plane’s bridge by Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. The official reception ceremony, organized on the occasion, was marked by a parade of the guard of honor and the playing of the two countries’ national anthems.

This Algiers summit is held in a context marked by the growing attention paid to natural gas as a crucial energy source for economic and social development.

It is one of the most important clean and environmentally friendly alternative energy sources, allowing the summit to deepen reflection and consultation to confirm its value as an essential resource for energy transition, meet the challenges of developing extraction technologies, and encourage investments in research and the expansion of fields of exploration, within the framework of fruitful partnerships between producer and consumer countries.

Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani is accompanied during this trip by a large delegation including:

– Mr. Moctar Ould Diay, the Minister in charge of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic; – Ms. Naha Mint Hamdy Ould Mouknass, the Minister of Health;

– Mr. Nany Ould Chrougha, the Minister of Oil, Mines, and Energy, Government spokesperson;

– Mr. Sidi Mohamed Ould Abdallahi, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in Algiers;

– Mr. El Houssein Ould Nagi, an Advisor at the Presidency of the Republic;

– Mr. Mohamed Ould Sweidatt, an Advisor at the Presidency of the Republic;

– Mr. El Hacen Ould Ahmed, the Director General of State Protocol.
