Signing a Memorandum of Understanding Between Our Country and the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation

Yesterday, Monday, in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Mauritania and the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, related to the organization of the Third International Festival of Mauritanian Dates for the year 2024 in Mauritania.

The memorandum of understanding was signed on behalf of the Mauritanian side by Mr. Ahmed Salem Ould Elaraby, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, and on the award’s side, its Secretary-General, Dr. Abdel Wahab Zayed, during a ceremony held on the occasion at the Emirates Palace.

This signing falls within the framework of good cooperation relations between Mauritania, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, which aims to advance the date palm sector in Mauritania.

During his stay in Abu Dhabi, Mr. Ahmed Salem Ould Elaraby will participate in the sixteenth session of the ceremony honoring the winners of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, the ministerial meeting to study the status of the Red Palm Weevil Control Trust Fund, and the ministerial meeting regarding the establishment of an international body for the development of sustainable oases in Abu Dhabi during the period between February 26 and 27, 2024 AD.

The signing ceremony of the memorandum was attended by a delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture, including: Adam Barry, technical advisor to the Minister of Agriculture in charge of people’s development and plant protection, Mohamedou Ould Mohamed Laghdaf, coordinator of the oasis development project, and Mohamed Aknita, director of the Palm Diseases and Biotechnology Laboratory.
