Ministry of Energy Participates in Mauritanian Investment and Business Forum at Doha Expo 2023


During the activities of the Mauritanian Investment and Business Forum, which was organized on Tuesday in the Qatari capital, as part of the Doha 2023 exhibition, the advisor to the Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy in charge of cooperation and communication, gave a presentation on the most important areas of investment and the number of advantages offered by Mauritania, especially with regard to clean energy, green hydrogen and environmentally friendly mining, and the contribution of these capabilities in the field of desert reconstruction and stimulating a sustainable economy and green industry.

In this context, a presentation was made on the “Sarib – Desert Renaissance” project, for which a document was recently signed between the Ministry of Energy and a gathering of German companies during the recent climate summit.

The multi-sector project aims to produce clean energy, desalination, food production, build environmentally friendly housing, reconstruct the desert and provide jobs on a large scale.

After the official delegation’s tour of the pavilions of the exhibition, the Qatari side held a ceremony in honor of the Mauritanian guests, during which the Commissioner-General of Expo Doha 2023, His Excellency Ambassador Badr bin Omar, delivered a speech in which he praised Mauritania’s national capabilities in the field of renewable energies, adding that the eyes of the world are on this country.

He stressed that the world’s largest companies are looking forward to benefiting from Mauritania’s capabilities in the field of sun, wind and green hydrogen, praising at the same time the historical relations between Mauritania and the State of Qatar.

The Qatari Commissioner-General invited Qatari investors to turn to Mauritania for investment and business development.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Energy is participating in this exhibition through a special pavilion set up to introduce visitors to the opportunities and possibilities of energy and minerals in Mauritania, where this pavilion witnessed a turnout by the participants and members of the community residing in Qatar, and appropriate answers were provided to many of the problems and questions of those interested and wishing to know more about the investment and business climate in Mauritania.
