Minister of Digital Transformation Participates in High-level Meeting on Artificial Intelligence in the UAE

The Minister of Digital Transformation, Innovation and Modernization of Administration, Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Louli, participated on Wednesday on the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2024, in Dubai, UAE, in a high-level meeting, entitled: “A Round Table on Building Responsible Systems in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”.

During the session, the Minister gave an intervention during which he focused on artificial intelligence and its future, indicating that high language models, especially conversational applications with artificial intelligence, enabled to increase global awareness of the reality of artificial intelligence, and to form an idea of the impact of this intelligence.

In his intervention, the Minister focused on three main points:

  • Explainability so that the user can find answers to the automated decision-making process, which is the subject of current research that must be supported until it sees the light of day.
  • Support open source platforms, or detect the data processing path starting from the certified data mine, passing through processing algorithms.
  • Effective international cooperation, in which His Excellency the Minister said that the current fragmentation must be avoided, there is a governance initiative sponsored by UNESCO endorsed by 191 countries, and there is recently the Artificial Intelligence Alliance established by the World Economic Forum, in addition to many other initiatives.

H.E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Jean-André Lekin, French computer scientist and Chief Artificial Intelligence Scientist at Meta, and other experts and specialists in the field of artificial intelligence participated in the roundtable.
