President of Republic Inaugurates New University Complex

On 27 December, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, inaugurated the new university complex of the University of Nouakchott.

The complex, which includes four faculties equipped with office automation and IT, accommodates 11,000 students, increasing the capacity of the University of Nouakchott from 14,000 to 25,000 students.

This complex includes 4 amphitheaters, 81 offices, and 80 classrooms, dedicated to the Faculty of Legal Sciences, 38 laboratories, 10 auditoriums, and 80 classrooms, dedicated to the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, 11 language laboratories, 73 offices, and 35 classrooms, dedicated to the Faculty of Arts, and two auditoriums, 3 offices, and 14 classrooms, dedicated to the Faculty of Medicine.

The complex, which is the largest of its kind completed by the Ministry of Housing, Urban Development, and Land Use Planning in recent years, was completed amid contractual deadlines, which were due to expire at the end of 2024.

After cutting the symbolic ribbon and removing the commemorative plaque, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani visited the different pavilions of this achievement and listened to explanations on the technical processes followed in its construction, its capacity, the nature of the specializations provided for therein, and the qualitative contribution it represents to increase the absorption capacity of the university.
