President of Republic Inaugurates Projects at Tanit Port

On 25 December, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, oversaw, at the port of Tanit in Benichab en Inchiri, the inauguration and launch of some installations belonging to the port.

The facilities inaugurated included an ice factory, a fish processing factory, a fish market, and the electrification of the port area.

The ice factory consists of three production units with a total daily capacity of 120 tons with a financial package of approximately $3 million, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development will ensure the preservation of fishery products and will provide a safe environment for this.

As for the fish factory, it consists of three processing rooms, an ice plant, and two storage rooms with a capacity of 1000 tons each, in addition to two storage silos with a capacity of 50 tons, with funding of approximately MRU 105 million from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, which will save stakeholders the trouble of transporting fish over long distances and provide a healthy and safe haven for their products.

The fish market contains several stores equipped with cold rooms, which will allow fishermen to exhibit their products in favorable hygienic conditions.

The Tanit Port electrification project is financed by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development with approximately MRU 28 million and will be completed within eight months.
