President of Republic Oversees the 2023 Chinguetti Awards Ceremony

The President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, supervised, on Monday at the International Convention Center in Nouakchott, the 2023 Chinguetti Awards ceremony.

The Chinguetti Prize, which consists of a certificate of appreciation and a financial grant of 5 million ancient ouguiyas, which was first awarded in 2001, aims to encourage contributors to the deepening and advancement of scientific research in the fields of Islamic, scientific and literary studies.

His Excellency the President of the Republic handed over the Chinguetti Prize for Science and Technology, which was won by Dr. Maaouya Ould Sidi for his research entitled: “Mathematical Modeling and Digital Simulation in the Field of Energy”.

His Excellency also handed over the Chinguetti Prize for Literature and Arts, which was won by writer Mohamed Ould Isselmou Mohamed Ghoulam for his work of fiction “El-Barrani”.

As for this year’s Islamic Studies Prize, the Chinguetti Prize Board decided to withhold it.

The award ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister, Mohamed Ould Bilal Messoud, the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Constitutional Council, the leader of the Democratic Opposition Foundation, the Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, the Minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, the two Ministers Counsellor of the Presidency of the Republic, members of the Government, the President and members of the Chinguetti Prize Council, the Wali of Nouakchott West, the President of the Nouakchott Region, the Mayor of the Municipality of Tefragh Zeina, military and security leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, and a number of intellectuals and cultureists.
