Mauritania’s Ambassador to Gambia Presents Credentials

On 21 December, in Banjul, HE. Mr. Hamoud Ould Abdi presented to Mr. Adama Barrow, the President of the Republic of Gambia, his credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in The Gambia.

The meeting focused on bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them by working to accelerate and activate cooperation mechanisms to serve the interests of the two countries and the two brotherly people.

In a speech given for the occasion, the Gambian President, Mr. Adama Barrow, spoke of Mauritania-Gambia relations, describing them as historic, welcoming the projects implemented by Mauritania in the field of clean energy and their implications on

the development of the country. He also highlighted the role played by the Mauritanian community in Gambia and the peaceful, positive, harmonious, and complementary character of its members with their Gambian brothers.

For his part, H.E. the ambassador transmitted, during the meeting, the greetings of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to his counterpart and brother, the President of the Republic of Gambia, as well as to the Gambian government and people, highlighting the high and good level of brotherly relations based on history, geography, and common Islamic faith.

He also spoke of the importance of these relations for both parties, highlighting efforts aimed at developing them to include all aspects of cooperation of interest to both countries, reiterating Mauritania’s desire to strengthen cooperation with The Gambiaand all countries in the sub-region.

Regarding social ties, H.E. the ambassador underlined the unity and interweaving of the social fabric in the two countries.
