On Wednesday 19 December in his office at the Prime Ministry, the Prime Minister Mohamed Ould Bilal Messaoud received a parliamentary delegation from the European Union currently visiting our country, headed by the head of the mission for relations with Maghreb countries in the European Parliament, Deputy Matíaz Nimek.
The meeting discussed various aspects of multi-field cooperation between our country and the European Union, ways to strengthen and develop it, and issues of common interest.
After the meeting, the head of the European Parliament delegation made the following statement to the Mauritanian News Agency:
“We came to Mauritania to pay tribute to the Mauritanian people first, and to see and feel the reforms undertaken by the Mauritanian government in various fields.
For us, this visit is an important experience to double our common reforms, and how we can work together in the future.
We now see a country full of many opportunities, and we are happy to discover beautiful Mauritania.
Our main message is that we must work together for future generations, for our relations to flourish.
There are many challenges and opportunities, and we must work for morecooperation in terms of economiy, security, migration and other fields.
Of course, this meeting is an opportunity to express our sincere thanks for the warm reception and hospitality.
Once again, I thank His Excellency the Prime Minister and the Mauritanian authorities for their hospitality and the good impact they have left on us.

The meeting took place in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports and Relations with Parliament, Mr. Ahmed Sid Ahmed Edje, the Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, Mrs. Aisha Val Fergus, the Acting Chief of the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Mohamed Lamine Reggani, the Advisor to the Prime Minister in charge of Political Affairs, Ms. Hindou Bent Ainaina, and the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to our country, His Excellency Mr. Gwillim Jones.
