Signing a Memorandum of Understanding to Develop a Model Project for Green Hydrogen to Support the Transport of iron ores by Train
The Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, Government Spokesman, Mr. Nani Ould Achrougha, signed on Tuesday at the Mauritania pavilion at the COP28 Climate Summit a memorandum of understanding between the ministry and SNEEM on the one hand, and Charriott and Total Arn on the other.
The MoU relates to the development of a green hydrogen pilot project to support the transport of iron ores by the metal train of SNEEM by providing the train with clean energy generated from hydrogen.
The signatories seek to launch a study as soon as possible to determine the practical measures to implement the terms of the memorandum and reach agreed solutions to operate the metal train with clean energy.
This project will significantly reduce SNEEM’s carbon footprint, increase the quality of its production and enhance its competitiveness in international markets.
