President of Nouakchott Region Reviews Ways to Strengthen Partnership With EU to European Parliament
On Thursday 30 November, Ms. Fatimatou Abdelmalek, President of the Nouakchott Region and President of United Cities and Local Governments in Africa, presented the proposals of United Cities and Local Governments with the European Union within the framework of inclusive multilateralism at the opening of the Forum of Cities and Regions for International Partnership organized in Brussels before the European Parliament.
Ms. Fatimatou Abdelmalek touched on the significant positive results achieved following the partnership of the European Union and global local networks and collectivities, highlighting the importance of city diplomacy and the consolidation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The President also thanked the European Commission for its positive interaction with all local agglomeration networks, especially the United African and African cities and local governments and the International Organization of Mayors of la Francophonie, noting the great progress and international positioning of local communities, which resulted in the establishment of the UN Advisory Group on Local Communities by the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
