High Commissioner for Human Rights: UN System and Member States have Failed to deal with the Palestinian issue

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Volker Türk, expressed his appreciation for the vital work carried out by national human rights institutions and the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ANHRI) during his meeting with the delegation of the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions on Wednesday in Geneva.

He noted that the UN system and its member states had failed to deal with vital issues, especially the continued neglect of the Palestinians.

The High Commissioner stressed that the situation requires an immediate cessation of violence while granting the United Nations and other entities unfettered access to conflict zones, noting the importance of influencing public opinion through the media and platforms that can make a difference.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the importance of shared responsibility, stressing that this responsibility transcends political boundaries and requires a unified effort to end the violence quickly and advocate for the rights and well-being of all affected individuals.
