Turkish Embassy Organizes Reception on its Country’s National Day

On Monday evening 30 october, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Nouakchott organized, at the Azlay Hotel in Nouakchott, a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Turkey.

The Government was represented at the ceremony by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salim Ould Merzough, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad in charge of Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Yahya Said, and Advisor to the Prime Minister in charge of Political Affairs, Hindou Bent Ainina

The Chargé d’Affaires at the Turkish Embassy, HE Mr. Ahmet Fek Dafaz, stressed that his country attaches great importance to relations with Mauritania, which plays a crucial role for the Sahel region and the African continent in general.

Mauritania and Turkey have common historical and religious relations, he said, noting that these relations have developed remarkably over the past years.

In this regard, he pointed out that the volume of trade exchange doubled during the period 2010-2020 from $ 39 million to $ 147 million, reaching $ 476.5 million in 2022.

He also, reviewed several areas of fruitful cooperation such as health, education, agriculture, food security and other areas of cooperation between the two countries, which are constantly developing.
