President of Republic Leaves Egyptian Capital for Nouakchott

On 21 October, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, left the Egyptian capital after participating in the Cairo Peace Summit, which was devoted to the discussion of the issue of the reduction of escalation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The President of the Republic was greeted upon his departure from the airport by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghafar, the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, our ambassador in Cairo, HE Mr. El Houssein Deih, and members of our diplomatic mission in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The President of the Republic delivered a speech at the opening of the Cairo Peace Summit in which he affirmed that the current situation in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic in all respects and that the destruction, the embargo, and the blatant crimes against humanity, such as the bombing of El Maamedani hospital are contrary to all values and principles.

He added he believed that it was time for everyone to be convinced that no one in the region would benefit from lasting peace and security as long as others have not enjoyed it and that peace and security cannot be obtained by victory in a war, because their durability is conditioned by the fact that all benefit from it.

The President of the Republic expressed the hope that this summit would contribute to accelerating the control of the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip and moving toward creating the two states.

During this trip, the President of the Republic is accompanied by a large delegation including Messrs.:

– Moctar Ould Diay, the Minister in charge of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic;

– El Hussein Ould Deih, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in Cairo;

– Ahmed Ould Bahini, an officer in charge of special duties at the Presidency of the Republic;

– Saleh Ould Dehmache, an officer in charge of special duties at the Presidency of the Republic;

– El Hacen Ould Ahmed, the Director General of State Protocol.
