Mauritania, China Sign MoU on Canceling Part of Government Debt Owed to China

On 18 August, in Nouakchott, Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Salah, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, and HE Mr. Li Baijun, the Chinese Ambassador to Mauritania, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) relating to the cancellation of part of Mauritanian government debt owed to China for a total amount of approximately YUAN RMB One Hundred and Forty-Seven Million (YUAN RMB 147,000,000), that is the equivalent of MRU Seven Hundred and Sixty Million (MRU 760,000,000).

During the signing ceremony, Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Salah expressed to the Chinese people and government the heartfelt thanks of the Mauritanian people and government for the level and quality of China’s commitment to our country to lay the foundations for sustainable socio-economic development.
