On 11 July, in Nouakchott, Mr. Cheikh Ahmedou Ould Ahmed Salem Ould Sidi, the Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action, and Relations with Civil Society, received a delegation from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), chaired by Mr. Herve de Fleurus, its Special Adviser for Development.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed cooperation relations between Mauritania and this UN body and examined issues of common interest.
On this occasion, the Commissioner made a presentation on the refugees of the M’Berra camp, noting the census to which they have been subjected, the procedures for their registration, and the development projects intended for them and the local citizens.
He stressed that the UNHCR had set up regional coordination in the Wilaya of Hodh Charghi to be, in addition to its traditional missions, aware of the conditions of the refugees in this camp.
