On 6 July, HE Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Hamed Belhoul al-Falasi, the UAE Minister of Education, said his country would build a scientific university in Mauritania.
In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency, at the end of the audience granted to him by His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, he added that he was instructed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Head of State of the United Arab Emirates, to convey a message to the President of the Republic.
The purpose of the visit is to officially inform the Mauritanian authorities of the decision of the United Arab Emirates to create a university of sciences in Mauritania, as he put it.
The UAE Minister explained that this university, of which the construction will hopefully start next year, will welcome Mauritanian students who wish to enroll in scientific disciplines.
Mr. al-Falasi indicated that the project of this university represents a new milestone in the relations between the two brotherly countries, stressing that the UAE appreciates the importance of investing in human resources.
The Emirati official said he conveyed to His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the greetings of his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, noting that this meeting reflects the strength and depth of the historical relations between the two brotherly people.
