Human Rights Commissioner Meets With IMO Mission

On 6 July, in Nouakchott, Mr. Cheikh Ahmedou Ould Ahmed Salem Ould Sidi, the Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action, and Relations with Civil Society, received Mr. Boubacar Sibou, the Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IMO) in Mauritania.

The meeting addressed partnership projects between the Commission and this international organization, particularly in areas related to the national action plan to combat human trafficking, the protection of victims of illegal migration, and technical support to the National Authority to Combat Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants.

The head of the IOM mission congratulated the Mauritanian government and the Human Rights Commission, particularly for the progress it has recently made in human rights, which has been welcomed and appreciated by the international bodies concerned.

He reiterated IOM’s commitment to continue supporting the efforts of the Mauritanian government in the fight against human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
