Presidency of Republic Announces New Government Composition

On 4 July, in Nouakchott, Mr. Moulay Ould Mohamed Leghdaf, the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, announced, during a press briefing, the composition of the new government.

Here is the Minister’s statement:

– In accordance democratic customs and traditions, the government has tendered its resignation following the last elections under which a new National Assembly was elected,

His Excellency the President of the Republic has decided to renew his confidence in the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messaoud, and instructed him to form a new Government in charge of:

– Preserving and consolidating achievements in various fields;

– Accelerating the completion of ongoing programs and public policies;

– Giving the utmost importance to the service and productive sectors and to social programs that have a direct impact on the lives of citizens by accelerating the reforms necessary to increase the efficiency of these sectors, improve the quality of the various services, and ensure universal access to these.

– On the proposal of the Prime Minister, and in the application of the provisions of the constitution, His Excellency the President of the Republic has appointed the following ladies and gentlemen:

– Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Cheikh Abdoullah Ben Boya,

– Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salem Merzoug,

– Minister of National Defense, Mr. Hananna Ould Sidi,

– Minister of Interior and Decentralization, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lemine,
