On 29 January, in Jeddah, Ms. El Alya Mint Menkouss, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad,  chaired, on behalf of the country, the 51st session of the OIC Permanent Financial Commission, whose work will continue from 29 January to 1 February 2023.

The work of this financial session is part of the preparations for the 49th session of the OIC Member States’ Council of Foreign Ministers, to be held on 16 and 17 March 2023.

The Secretary General expressed her satisfaction with the opening of this session after the success of the 45th session of the OIC Islamic Commission for Economic, Cultural, and Social Affairs, held last week.

She expressed her sincere thanks to the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Highness Mohamed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the continued support to building the capacity of the Organization’s capacity to advance joint Islamic action.

She called on the participants in the conference to combine efforts on which rests the principle of solidarity which constitutes the basis of Islamic action for the success of the work of the Conference of OIC Foreign Ministers scheduled in Nouakchott next March.

In turn, the Chairman of the previous session, Ambassador Seyid Muhammad Fawad Sher, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Pakistan to the Organization, expressed his thanks to the OIC for the support it has provided to his country during the last session before handing over the chairmanship of the session to Mauritania.

For his part, the Secretary General, Mr. Hussein Brahim Taha, affirmed that the OIC is ready to support all efforts aimed at strengthening joint Islamic cooperation.
