Aioun: President of Republic Inaugurates, Lays Founding Stone for Major Development Projects

On 29 December, in Aioun, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, supervised the inauguration and the laying of the founding stone for important development projectsand public service infrastructure.

The headquarters of the Hodh El Gharbi Regional Council is one of ten others built in ten wilayas of the country by the Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning, and Regional Development, for a total cost of MRO 591,350,000 financed

from the state budget.

The headquarters of each regional council includes more than 30 offices, parking, public facilities, a reception hall, and another for meetings.

It is built according to the new architecture of high standing administrative buildings, to allow the members of the council to exercise their functions in the best possible conditions, in addition to being an appreciable support for the local development of the wilayas.

His Excellency the President of the Republic also supervised the launch of restoration and rehabilitation works on 700 km of the national road network on 7 axes: Aleg-Maghta Lahjar, Djouk-Kiffa, Tintane-Aioun, Aïoun-Aweinat Zbel, Aweinat

Zabel-Timbedra, Timbedra-Nema and Boghe-Kaedi, for an execution period of 18 months and financing of MRO 53 billion supported by the state budget.

The city of Aioun will benefit from the construction of an urban road network by which the Meteo neighborhood will be linked to the Lemghaity district, over 600 m, the Lemghaity district to the hospital over 1100 m, the Kobenni road to the hospital over 820

m, and the airport road for 7030 m.

This urban network is part of the modernization of city centers supported by the implementation of the program “My Expanded Priorities of His Excellency the President of the Republic. His Excellency the President of the Republic also supervised the inauguration of the new Aioun power station, which has a production capacity of 1,500 kilowatts, which means that it will now ensure full coverage of electricity needs of the city. It will allow the Mauritanian electricity company to extend its network to areas of the city that have long been deprived of electricity services.
