President of Republic Lays Foundation Stone for Development Infrastructure To Strengthen SNIM Performance

On 22 December, in Nouadhibou, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, oversaw the inauguration of development infrastructure and the laying of the foundation stone for others to improve the performance of the National Industrial and Mining Company (SNIM).
These facilities include the inauguration of the ore port channel dredging project and the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of a new shipping line. The expansion of the ore port, whose draft of the port will be deepened to 18.3 meters instead of 16.15 meters, will enable the port to accommodate ships with a tonnage of 250,000 tons and to follow the evolution of the size of the ships, which contributes to reduce the price of transport.
This extension, at a cost of 110,705,411.06 euros, is co-financed by the National Industrial and Mining Company (SNIM), the European Investment Bank, and the African Development Bank to improve the performance of this company to boost its activity and increase its export capacity.
The establishment of a new shipping line will allow the company to increase the frequency of ship loading and secure loading operations, which helps create additional flexibility that improves export capacity. This new line, at a cost of 15,298,316 euros, financed by SNIM, will open up new horizons that will strengthen the company’s performance in the field of maritime transport to different regions of the world.
