500.000 Euros of this amount will be allocated to the preparation for the reinforcement of gender-based priority in the field of agriculture; the remaining amount will be designated for the funding of the second phase of the food security enhancement project, through the development of the irrigated agriculture.

In a speech on the occasion, the minister pointed out that this donation falls within the framework of partnership between Mauritania and France, stressing that it will enable our country to boost the funding of the second phase of food security enhancement project through the development of the irrigated agriculture in the regions of Guidimakha and Gorgol.

On his part, the French ambassador confirmed that this funding is intended to appreciate the rural women’s capabilities; it also seeks to support the food security enhancement project, declaring that around 2500 farmers will benefit from this donation.

He added that the agriculture sector is one of the most affected sectors by the COVID-19 Pandemic, thus, France decided to be on Mauritania’s side to help alleviate the repercussions of the pandemic on this sector.
