German Ambassador to Mauritania Hails Mauritian-German Partnership

On 4 October, the German Embassy in Nouakchott organized a reception on the occasion of the commemoration of the 32nd anniversary of the reunification treaty.
In the speech she delivered on this occasion, the German Ambassador, Ms. Isabel Henin, indicated that bilateral cooperation constitutes a very important pillar in relations between Mauritania and the Federal Republic of Germany. She emphasized that the partnership between the two countries covers several areas including environmental protection, good governance, sustainable economic development, vocational training, and employment.
Ms. Henin pointed out that political exchanges between Mauritania and Germany had been rich in recent months, adding that last February, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, met Chancellor Scholz at the Africa-EU summit in Brussels. More recently, last June, on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Madrid, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, had talks with his German counterpart, Ms. Baerbock, as she put it.
The German diplomat added that it is in a spirit of partnership that the two countries are working together for peace, sustainable development, social cohesion, and shared prosperity. She stressed that this cooperation takes place at several levels, bilateral and regional, including for the benefit of the G-5 Sahel, through the coalition and the Sahel Alliance, or even through the European Union and the United Nations.
