The Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Ms. Halima Ba Yahya, adopted, Monday via videoconference, a cooperation agreement between Mauritania and the French Development Agency represented by “Expertise France”, aimed at strengthening the partnership between two parties in the field of health.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary General indicated that the agreement comes at a time when Mauritania has undertaken a process of drawing up its new national health development plan based on the results of the DHS survey with precise, clear, and achievable ambitions.
Ms. Halima Ba Yahya added that the seriousness and the commitment with which the country’s highest authorities carry out this plan obliges us, as partners, to get off the beaten track and to seek new solutions for the achievement of the objectives of the national health development plan that aligns well with sustainable development goals.
She noted that the agreement aims to define the modalities for the implementation of an expert mission supporting actors in the fight against the three pandemics (HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria) through long-term expertise planned to support the achievement of the objectives of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria’s grants and strengthen the health system.
The Secretary General explained that the agreement covers a period of two years and has several specific objectives, including improving the management of the fight against the three pandemics, support for the implementation of activities associated with the three pandemics and the support for strengthening the health system.
Finally, she pointed out that the importance of the agreement lies in the fact that it makes it possible to increase the scope, coherence, and integration of actions for more efficiency and more results.
