President of Republic Oversees Launch of 2022-2023 Agricultural Campaign

On 21 July, His Excellency Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani supervised, from the Legrayer dam in the Moughataa of Tamchekett, Wilaya of Hodh El Gharbi, the launch of the 2022-2023 agricultural campaign.

During the ceremony, the President of the Republic followed a presentation on the actions undertaken to ensure the success of this year’s agricultural campaign. Companies under the Ministry of Agriculture organized an exhibition of cultivated products. Their representatives provided the President of the Republic with detailed explanations of the innovations introduced to achieve food self-sufficiency.

These innovations concern the cultivation of green fodder, the introduction of agricultural mechanization, the construction of water retention basins for the irrigation of areas to be cultivated, and the watering of livestock throughout the year.

It is noteworthy that the actions planned within the framework of this campaign, which will cost the State budget MRU 4 billion, concern, among other things, the construction or rehabilitation of 42 dams and 540 protective dykes and the weeding of 666 thousand m2 on water axes.
