Foreign Minister Receives Russian Ambassador

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, received Monday the Russian Ambassador to Mauritania, His Excellency Mr. Boris Zhilko.

The meeting dealt with relations of cooperation between the two countries, regional and international developments of common interest, and the latest developments in Ukraine.

The Minister expressed Mauritanian concern over the safety and security of our citizens in Ukraine, calling for a humanitarian truce and a safe passage to evacuate them as soon as possible.

The Russian diplomat pledged to inform his country’s authorities of this request, stressing that the Russian army does not target residential areas or civilian gatherings.
