Adrar: 42 Tourists Arrive in Atar

On 8 January, 42 tourists arrived in the city of Atar as part of the flights scheduled for the 2021/2022 tourist season.

Commenting on the event, Mr. Mohamed Ould Soumbara, the Regional Director of the National Tourist Office (ONT) in Adrar, stressed that the continued arrival in Mauritania of tourists, despite the unfavorable global health circumstances, is due to the climate of security, stability, and prosperity prevailing in the country. He added that the ONT had made all the necessary arrangements to ensure the success of the current tourist season.

Mr. Soumbara finally highlighted the beneficial effects of the sector on the local economic renaissance.

In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI), Ms. Marie Franc, one of the tourists, said she was happy to be in Mauritania for the first time. She noted that she had come to live pleasant moments and enjoy the country’s unique tourist attractions, such as the cities of Ouadane, Chinguetti, and the Guelb Al-Richat area.

For his part, Mr. Jean François, another tourist, said he was visiting Mauritania for the first time and expressed his eagerness to discover Mauritanian society, its traditions, its culture, and its ancient cities.

“I am happy to embark on a great adventure and inquire about the characteristics of the country, its cultural diversity, its archaeological treasures, and its precious manuscripts,” he concluded.
