Opening of a forum on the review and improvement of the strategy of the Special Group for Human Rights
The work of a forum on the review and improvement of the strategy of the Special Group for Democratic Human Rights and its action plans for the year 2022,began this Thursday in Nouakchott.
This forum aims to promote human rights in Mauritania, strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations and review their work plans for the year 2022.

Mr. Mohamed Ould Limam, praised the efforts of the Commission on Human Rights in the promotion of rights at the level of civil society in particular. This is particularly illustrated in recent years which have been marked by the strengthening of the legal framework of these associations, crowned by the ratification of Law 004/2021.
He added that the Commission is currently doing all it can to ensure that the national strategy for the promotion of human rights and the protection of civil society is ratified.
Ms Heik Dom from GIZ (German cooperation) expressed her joy to participate in this human rights forum, which will inevitably lead to results that will advance human rights, especially in the spheres of life of civil society.
For his part, the president of the Forum of non-governmental actors, Mr. Mohamedou Ould Sidi, underlined that the cooperation with the German team for six years has given excellent results, in particular at the level of the anchoring of the culture of human rights.
For his part, the chairman of the Special Group for Democratic Human Rights, Mr. Mamadou Mokhtar Sar, also underlined the relevance of the objectives of the strategy and its role of supporting and accompanying civil society.
The forum brought together a number of jurists and civil society activists.
