On Sunday evening in Kiffa, the capital of Assaba region, the First Lady, Dr. Mariem Mint Mohamed Fadel Ould Dah, presided over the launch of the fall tourism season, organized by the Ministry of trade and Tourism as part of the second edition of “My Country… My Destination” program.
This event is part of a national initiative aimed at revitalizing domestic tourism and encouraging citizens to discover national tourist destinations, in line with the call by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to spend vacations within the country and to make tourism a source of local development and a driver of economic activity.
On the sidelines of the launch of the fall tourism season, the First Lady toured the exhibition pavilions set up for the occasion, where she viewed examples of traditional crafts and local artisanal products, as well as displays of agricultural produce.
The tour also included a visit to the pavilion of the Museum of the Moujahid Benahi Ould Sidi Ould Mohamed Radhi and the pavilion of the National School of Tourism Professions, which is currently training 60 young men and women from the Assaba region in the fields of hospitality and tourism.
On this occasion, the First Lady honored three outstanding young women from the training program organized by the National School of Tourism Professions in the fields of tourism and hospitality, to recognize their excellence and encourage young people to pursue vocational training in this promising sector.
At the conclusion of the tour, the Minister of Trade and Tourism presented a commemorative plaque to the First Lady in recognition of her support for and involvement in efforts aimed at developing domestic tourism, as well as her contribution to the success of “My Country… My Destination” program, which aims to promote national tourism and highlight the cultural and natural assets found throughout the country’s various regions.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the First Lady, accompanied by the Minister of Trade and Tourism, presided over the signing of the National Charter for Tourism Development.
