Mauritania, Oman Explore Cooperation in Digital Transformation
On July 29 in Nouakchott, Mr. Ahmed Salem Bede Etfagha, Minister of Digital Transformation and Administration Modernization, received an Omani delegation led by Dr. Ali bin Amer Al-Shadhani, Secretary of State at the Omani Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, as part of a working visit to Mauritania taking place from July 28 to 30.
The visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Mauritania and the Sultanate of Oman and promoting the exchange of expertise in digital transformation, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and online public services. It also seeks to support efforts to modernize public administration and accelerate Mauritania’s digital transformation agenda.
During the meeting, Mauritanian officials delivered a strategic presentation outlining the country’s digital transformation journey. The presentation highlighted the government’s national vision for developing the digital ecosystem, as well as the institutional and legislative reforms supporting this process. It also reviewed major completed projects, ongoing initiatives, and digital services introduced for citizens and public institutions.
The presentation further emphasized Mauritania’s efforts to expand digital infrastructure, strengthen cybersecurity, enhance data sovereignty, and build national capacities in line with the country’s development priorities. These initiatives are intended to foster a modern, efficient, and transparent public administration capable of delivering secure, high-quality digital services.
The Omani delegation’s program includes technical working sessions, specialized presentations, and field visits to several institutions involved in Mauritania’s digital transformation. The visit is expected to deepen cooperation, facilitate the exchange of best practices, and explore new partnership opportunities in areas of mutual interest, supporting both countries’ ambitions to build advanced digital economies and improve public service delivery.
