His Excellency, the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, oversaw, Wednesday evening, the laying of the foundation stone for the project to create two public squares in the districts of Ksar and Tavregh Zeina, implemented by the Establishment for the Execution of Works with Local Materials (ETR-ML).
His Excellency the President of the Republic received detailed explanations presented by ETR-ML’s Director General, Mr. Mohamed Lamine Ould Khatri, and those in charge of the project, which dealt with its various aspects, the means, mechanisms, and materials used in its completion. He also watched a documentary about the final urban plan of the two squares and the attractive properties of each square.
The total area of Ibn Abbas Square is 11,000 square meters, and includes 300 square meters of green spaces, 1,100 square meters of car parking, three fountains with eight sprays, an amphitheater that can serve as a platform for rallies, as well as a picnic area adjacent to the water fountain, and a concrete wall suitable as a screen to display national events and official speeches, in addition to public facilities.
The area of Tavregh Zeina’s square is 12,000 square meters, divided into 1,500 square meters of green spaces, 2,000 square meters of parking, and a fountain of 100 square meters, in addition to public spaces.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Mohamed Ould Bilal, several government members, the wali of Western Nouakchott, the chairperson of Nouakchott regional council, the mayor and hakem of Ksar.
