Minister of Economic Affairs Meets With KFAED Director General

On 13 December, in Nouakchott, Mr Abdallah Souleymane Cheikh Sidiya, Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, received His Excellency Mr Waleed Shamlan Ahmed al-Bahar, Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).

The meeting focused on strengthening our country’s partnership with KFAED to advance Mauritania’s sustainable development goals.

The discussions demonstrated both parties’ willingness to accelerate financing for new development projects, particularly in the infrastructure sector, which is essential to improving citizens’ quality of life. This is based on a track record of successful cooperation, with cumulative funding from the Fund during the period 1975-2025 reaching 145 million Kuwaiti dinars, equivalent to US$456 million, of which 2.63 million Kuwaiti dinars were in the form of grants and the remainder in the form of concessional loans.

The meeting also reviewed ongoing and future projects to continue the development process.
