The Association of Mauritanian Alumni of China organized, on Saturday evening in Nouakchott, a celebratory seminar on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mauritania and the People’s Republic of China, under the title: “Mauritanian-Chinese relations and prospects for joint cooperation.”
The symposium witnessed a number of lectures by a group of intellectuals and politicians, which dealt with the history of bilateral relations between the two countries, the developments they have witnessed, as well as the prospects for future cooperation.
In his speech on the occasion, Yerban Ould Kharachi, President of the Association of Mauritanian Alumni of China, stressed that the relationship between the two countries was built on solid foundations of mutual respect, solidarity and non-interference in internal affairs, noting that it has expanded to include many fields that have directly affected the development process in Mauritania.
He added that this anniversary represents an opportunity to enhance bilateral cooperation to serve comprehensive and sustainable development, stressing that the Association looks forward to more Chinese investments in vital sectors that contribute to job creation and stimulate economic growth.
For his part, HE the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China accredited to Mauritania, Mr. Tang Zhongdong, expressed his pleasure to participate in this seminar, highlighting the strength of relations between the two countries and their ability to withstand international changes.
He pointed out that the past 60 years have resulted in fruitful cooperation in multiple fields, calling for seizing this opportunity to build a Sino-Mauritanian society with a shared future, and turning the relations into a model of win-win cooperation.
The seminar was attended by a number of political and diplomatic figures and intellectuals from both countries.
