Mission from our Embassy in Dakar visits the Gathering Points of Sacrificial Animal Traders in Senegal
Senegal
A mission from the Embassy of our country in Senegal, headed by the First Counsellor, Mr. Mohamed Khattar Lahbib, paid a field visit on Sunday to the gathering points of Mauritanian sacrificial livestock traders in some Senegalese interior provinces.
This visit aims to get a closer look at the conditions of Mauritanian livestock traders who are currently in Senegal to market their livestock as part of the process of supplying the Senegalese market with sacrificial animals supervised by the Mauritanian and Senegalese Ministries of Animal Development on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
The mission visited the states of Thiès, Kolkho, Kaffrine and Senlouis, which host the largest gathering of Mauritanian traders at this time of year.
At the end of last April, Mauritania and Senegal signed an agreement for the supply of sacrificial animals from Mauritania to Senegal, under which Senegal pledges to exempt Mauritanian livestock from all duties and taxes for 105 days and to rehabilitate sales points and provide them with the necessary requirements such as water, electricity and facilities, in addition to providing fodder at appropriate prices.
