President of the Republic receives the Secretary of State for Communities in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau

The President of the Republic, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, received, on Wednesday at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, Nelson Barbara, Secretary of State for Communities of the Republic of Guinea–Bissau.
The meeting dealt with the distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and ways to develop and strengthen them.
Shortly after the interview, the Guinean Secretary of State made a statement to the Mauritanian News Agency in which he said that Guinea–Bissau and Mauritania have strong historical relations that have been greatly strengthened since their independence, stressing that Mauritania is a friend and brother country of Guinea–Bissau, and supports it permanently, and that this visit comes to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries.
The Government of Guinea was aware of the importance of facilitating the movement of persons and the need to ensure the protection of the citizens of the two countries, supported bilateral cooperation, stressed adherence to the principles of African solidarity with regard to human rights and the dignity of migrants, and wished to strengthen bilateral cooperation with regard to migration, social protection and workers‘ rights through the establishment of mechanisms for the protection, support and integration of Guinean citizens residing in Mauritania, as well as Mauritanian citizens residing in Guinea–Bissau, and guaranteeing their rights and access to basic services.
He noted that the historical and cultural relations between Guinea–Bissau and Mauritania are cordial.
The meeting was attended by Minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, Nani Ould Chrougha, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug.
